Welcome

The Royal Institute of Philosophy is a charity dedicated to the advancement of philosophy in all its branches through the organisation and promotion of teaching, discussion and research of all things philosophical. The Institute is not committed to any particular philosophical school or method or, of course, any ideology.

PUBLIC LECTURES: The Institute organizes lectures, debates and other philosophical events which are open to the general public all over the country.  To find out more, please click here ››

FUNDING AND EDUCATION: The Institute offers funding to philosophy postgraduates and brings free ten-week philosophy courses to students in up to 50 schools across the UK each year. We also sponsor conferences in schools and departments of philosophy.  To find out more,  please click here ››

PUBLICATIONS: The Institute publishes two journals each year — Philosophy and Think.  Our London lectures are collected into a volume, as are the talks at our annual departmental conferences, and both are published by Cambridge University Press.  Membership is open to all those interested in philosophy and includes a subscription to Philosophy.
