The Online Philosophy Course

The Royal Institute offers free 10-week philosophy courses from time to time, and this term, given current restrictions, we'll be working entirely online.

The sessions have ended this academic year, but we'll post word here soon about upcoming courses.

Online Sessions

This course will take up some of the main themes and problems of Western Philosophy, exploring themes relating to knowledge, reality, mind, and value. It should be accessible even to those with little or no prior experience of studying philosophy.

The format will typically involve a lecture followed by some class discussion, and each week you will be given some recommended reading in advance of the class to introduce you to some of the key themes.

The sessions will be taken by  Dr. Nadine Elzein, a lecturer at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, who has previously held posts at University College Oxford, King’s College London, Southampton, Wadham College Oxford, and University College London. To apply for a space, please email with a paragraph outlining your background and interests in philosophy.

As space is limited, please only apply if you are able to commit to attending all sessions.
